What does lady of the island mean?
- Lady of the Island
- Lady of the Island is a folk song written by Graham Nash in the late 1960s. The song appears on Crosby, Stills & Nashs critically acclaimed, self-titled debut album. The song is notable for taking its inspiration from fellow folk musician Joni Mitchell, with whom Nash was romantically involved at the time. Although the album contains another love song to Mitchell, David Crosby's "Guinnevere", Nash told Mojo magazine in April 2009 that this potentially tricky situation did not create any problems. He explained: "The way that we went about our lives did not entail jealousy and it didn't entail raging about somebody being with somebody else's woman. Me and David and Joni didn't think anything of it, that's for sure."
