- A DS3 contains 28 DS1 channels, or 672 DS0s, or 43,008,000 bits per second. Note that this is true bandwidth, originally designed to transport traditional voice circuits. A DS3 is often transported over a T3 (44.736 Mb/s), which itself contains the additional framing and error correction bits.
