- CSMACD
- 'Carrier Sense, the transceiver is measuring the voltage level on the line. If there is no 'MA--Media Attach' on the line, it is rising the voltage of the (KoAx) cabel, so giving its own 'MA' to the cable. This turnaround from sense to set is the difference from good to very good Net I-Faces. This is why 3COM passed all other cards on market for a long time with its 3C50x(9). Finishing the process is the sense of changing voltages on the line during 'send', which indicates another sending I/F. This might happen, if an I/F with fast turnaround from sensing to setting its own MA is doing this almost parallel to another I/F slightly slower and starts sending when the first is already sending.
